This type of research is not what we usually deal with, one week to dive deeper into a technology and determine what are the strategic options in the possible implementation of it in a company. There is a lot to think of, so how did we manage to have both a holistic and detailed view of the topic?
Well, this GIF accurately represents how we managed, just by jumping right into the topic!
Topics research
We are fourth-year students, and at this point, we have a clear overview of what are strengths and weaknesses are. Let's be honest, we are going to divide tasks based on our strengths, and that is what we did. Everyone picked the topic that aligns the most with their interests and we started with our desk research.
Our desk research was based on websites, but also on research papers for similar applications, lectures from the past 4 years, knowledge from our third-year different backgrounds, books, study cases, and an interview for insights on the company considered for the case. I know... that is a long list, but if you do not believe it, go check yourself! All our sources are listed in APA style at the bottom of our posts.
Writing posts
Writing posts was something new, unfortunately, none of us had a blogger career last Monday, but that might have changed by now👀.
How did we write our posts then? Easy, we checked other tech blogs.
We tried keeping a professional language content-wise, being informative and coherent, with some more freedom in the introduction style. Well, of course, our professionalism is limited to the content of the other posts, this is just meant as a diary, so please do not comment on the fact that I have used the word "professional" after using that GIF to explain how we approached our research...
Our layout team then tried to check on the consistency of the style of the posts and added some hyperlinks and labels to enhance coherence.
The idea is to have a grid structure, where the topics mentioned are interconnected, and the influence of one post on another is well-defined.
Pre-presentation
Four days and five different brains to come up with the implementation of new technology in a business case can get chaotic... speaking from experience. Everyone has different ideas and perceptions of what is important and what is not, so what do we do?
We check on each others' part and discuss, what is still needed? Do all the parts logically connect? It might have taken us a while, but we managed to find the middle ground. That is eventually the role of an industrial engineer, right?
Presentation and feedback points
We might have agreed on the topics, but guess what? Two teachers with years of experience in about 20 minutes, managed to think more than our five brains in the past four days.👍
Here we are then, updating our content according to their feedback (hoping they will not spend another 20 minutes on this blog, or else we are going to need an additional week). To be fair, the feedback points were more than valid, so each group member updated their own parts.
That was it from our side, I hope you enjoyed following our journey as much as we did, and that we learned something new together in this blog!
