Legrand Nederland: Business and Future growth

What is Legrand Nederland B.V.?

Legrand Nederland B.V. used to be a family-owned company under the name of Van Geel, that was acquired by the Legrand Group in 2004.

Legrand Group has its headquarters in Limoges, France, and its branch in the Netherlands is located in Boxtel. The group is present in 90 countries worldwide and counts a turnover of 8,3 billion in 2022.

The company focuses on improving electrical and digital building infrastructure to support the transition to digital technologies. Their products include switchgear, cable support systems, sockets, and power management tools. It operates in residential buildings, industrial spaces, and infrastructures. Its main goal is to gain a leading position as a total supplier in the electrotechnical and digital market.

The location in Boxtel used to be a production site, but production has now moved to a new location in Veghel, in an affiliated company, Minkels. Now Legrand Boxtel is mainly a trading company.

What is the future of the company?

Considering the transition towards a trading company, the product range in the location has increased, together with the warehouse capacity. However, the warehouse is expecting additional growth in the future.

Legrand Nederland is currently a B2B company, but it’s being evaluated whether expanding to the B2C market and providing products to private customers would be a good business model. This would result in an e-com with a new type of warehousing system for this range of products.

Legrand Belgium’s warehouse will soon be shut down. The Dutch location will then take the opportunity and amplify its product range and customer base from the Belgian location.

The pace of the change makes it hard for the company to establish the best warehousing systems and find the amount of correct human resources, therefore we’re here to explore, what are their best options?
